Timz Trimz

A barber taken off Booksy and onto their own booking site and app, so the bookings, the customers and the monthly fee are all theirs.

The diary, the takings and the customer list all sit on the same screen the bookings come into, and none of it needs a spreadsheet.

The problem

Paying every month, and still owning none of it.

They were on Booksy. So the bookings were Booksy’s, the customer list was Booksy’s, and the fee was monthly and permanent.

That’s the deal every local service business gets offered, and it’s fine right up until you notice what you’re paying for. Your customers find you inside somebody else’s app, sat next to every other barber in the area. A platform decides how the whole thing looks. And the day you stop paying, you lose the booking system and the customer relationships with it.

What I did

Gave them their own.

A booking site and app built for their shop. Customers book with them, on their site, under their name, and they own it outright instead of renting it.

Behind that, an admin they can run the shop from: their services, their prices, their hours, their customers. The diary is built into it, so the day’s appointments and what those add up to sit on the same screen they take bookings on, rather than in a spreadsheet they update on a Sunday night. It installs to a phone like an app, so a regular books in two taps without going through a marketplace first.

None of that is a plugin sat on a website. The booking engine, the admin and the app are one build, made for the way a barber shop actually works, and the native version is on the App Store. That is the same route Live Watch Stock took, and it ended the same way.

What it does

  • Online booking, on their own site
  • Services and prices they control
  • Opening hours and availability
  • A diary of the day, built into the admin
  • What the day and the week have taken, without a spreadsheet
  • Customer records that belong to them
  • Admin built for a phone, not a desktop
  • Installs to the home screen like an app
  • A native app on the App Store
  • No per booking fee, no monthly platform bill

What changed

It’s live, and it’s theirs.

The site is out at timztrimz.com and the app is on the App Store. Customers book with the shop directly now, on the shop’s own name, and there is no platform in the middle taking a cut of it.

The part that matters is the part you cannot see on the page. The customer list is theirs. The bookings are theirs. If they fell out with me tomorrow, they would still have all of it, because none of it is rented from anybody.

They aren’t technical and I never needed them to be. I showed them how it works in plain English, kept them posted while I built it, and went back over the small stuff until they were happy with all of it. It’s the project most local businesses will recognise themselves in. The same swap is on the table for anyone else renting their bookings.
